I've always loved to paint. When I was a kid, my parents allowed me to attend an art class where I learned portrait drawing with charcoal. It was just for a few months, I recalled, but it allowed me to acquire some basic drawing skills. After my family moved to Denmark, I also took art classes at my school. And even though it was something I enjoyed, I never thought I was good at drawing and painting, and I never had an idea of being an artist.

But now I've realised that art, like music, is probably just 5% talent and 95% practice (my voice teacher told me so; more about this later). I wasn't good at drawing because I didn't practice, not because I couldn't be excellent. And even though I've picked it up a few times throughout my life, it wasn't "the thing" for me to continue like my music.

However, things seem to change lately. There are days where I have to wake up early (like 4-ish), so I can have time to be creative, and drawing on my Ipad is one of the first things I do in the morning. It allows me to free myself so that I can write afterwards. And it turns out maybe I wasn't good at portrait drawing because it wasn't my "thing". What I love about drawing is the ability to mix colours and allow them to create their own patterns. So yes, abstract drawing and painting are my "things", and since I don't have an art studio at the moment, digital drawing is something that I enjoy very much.

As you've seen on this website, I've used some of my drawings as my tags. And I want to share them with you here so you can enjoy them. Somehow, I feel very uplifted when looking at them, and I hope you feel the same too:

How about you? What do you do to free yourself creatively?

With love,

Elanor
